Tesla, taking a significant step forward in autonomous driving technology, has released the highly anticipated FSD 14.1.4 update. This development is considered a significant step toward its goal of fully autonomous driving.
Key FSD 14.1.4 Innovations
Tesla offers new options to personalize the driving experience. An additional Speed Profile has been added to further customize driving style. One of the most notable innovations is “Destination Options.” This feature allows drivers to choose exactly where they want the FSD to park, such as in a Parking Lot, Street, Driveway, Parking Garage, or Curb. On the system side, reliability has been improved by enhancing the FSD’s ability to manage potential malfunctions and recover smoothly from performance drops.
Features Introduced in Full Self Driving (Supervised) v14.1.4:
- Destination Options have been added, allowing you to choose where the FSD will park: Parking Lot, Street, Driveway, Parking Garage, or Curb. Added pull-over or yield functionality for emergency vehicles (e.g., police cars, fire trucks, ambulances).
- Added navigation and routing to a vision-based neural network for real-time handling of blocked roads and detours.
- Added an additional Speed Profile to further customize driving style preferences.
- Improved handling of static and dynamic doors.
- Improved vehicle sidestepping/gapping for road debris (e.g., tires, tree branches, boxes).
- Improved handling of various scenarios, including unprotected turns, lane changes, sudden cuts (from other vehicles), and school buses.
- Improved FSD’s ability to handle system failures and smoothly recover from performance degradation for improved reliability.
- Added a warning system for debris buildup on the inside of the windshield that could affect the front camera’s visibility. If affected, visit Service for cleaning!
- Added automatic narrow-area washing to provide fast and efficient front camera self-cleaning and optimize aerodynamic washing at high vehicle speeds.
This new architecture is data-driven. The more miles a vehicle travels, the faster the system learns. Musk states that this method will lead to a “rapid” improvement in autonomous driving capabilities.
